Growing

Dave and Emma Moore with Joshua are serving in Papua New Guinea as part of a church planting team with New Tribes Mission. Dave is looking after the medical needs of the team and developing community health care. Emma is teaching music at Numonohi Christian Academy.

After a short time of home assignment in the summer Emma and Joshua returned to PNG for the start of the school term, Dave travelled to Germany to visit friends, speak at a church and benefit from refresher training with New Tribes Mission. On the way back to PNG he stopped in Australia for ultrasound training in Brisbane and was encouraged with fellowship from Christian medics in the local area.

Please pray for the clinic team to move forward together in a good way, that they keep focused on their work and things that matter and for ongoing improvement with language and culture learning.

The music programme continues, and Emma has been helping with school assembly this year. “Yumi singsing” was a pop-up choir that was set up for Independence day and the participants had a lot of fun and sense of achievement in doing something positive together.

As Dave and Emma face different situations, one of the challenges is to bring God’s Word to mind, to meditate on it through the day and apply it to their circumstances. They are thankful for refreshment and help from others, improving mental health and growing friendships, especially their neighbours with whom they spend a lot of time.

Emma has joined a “Bible Study Fellowship” class and as a “Growth Group” they have been studying 1 John this term. As a family they have enjoyed bike rides in the local area and the running club has grown to eight members this year. Joshua is making progress with piano and Dave has been teaching piano to another student too. He didn’t manage so well with teaching Joshua!

As Christmas comes up, they will be helping to plan a special service and look forward to a Christmas concert too. The juxtaposition of “Hallelujah Chorus” and “You’re a Mean One Mr Grinch” provides some amusement. They are learning the Pentatonix version of “Mary, Did You Know?” as well.
