Kristine has a ministry among the youth in the city where she lives in Asia-Pacific and in the rural area of Wana. At the most recent Sunday school teacher’s seminars taught in several villages an updated version was used, adding more practice time, and it ended up being a better experience. Now there is a lot of work left to do to finish the new Bible study lessons for the younger and the older youth groups. They have completed six out of the twenty lessons for the older group, so it is slowly moving forward. Now that her co-workers Andrew and Joanna have returned from their home assignment Kristine will work on them together with Joanna, which will move things along faster.
On Wednesday nights in her Bible study group they are looking at the book of Revelation, and it is quite challenging to teach, but at the same time very interesting. Currently the most encouraging weekly Bible study for Kristine is the one with three college age girls. They are so eager to meet and learn, that she goes home encouraged and uplifted every time. They ask a lot of questions and eagerly answer everything they are asked. In some of the other Bible study groups and meetings engagement is not as easy. In the local culture it is not usual for people to ask questions or have input in things when they are being taught, which is a challenge for Bible study. How can they know what the kids have understood without questions/answers or discussions going on? One strategy has been to is to make a lot of things into a competition or a game, because then it becomes a lot easier to answer questions.
Stage one of the renovations that were started on the building used for Sunday meetings and a guesthouse for patients that come out to the city, are complete. This included changing the ceiling on half of the building, taking down a wall, painting all walls, replacing electrics and renovating one of the bathrooms. In May they plan to start stage two which is changing the whole roof on the older part of the building.
Please continue to pray Kristine will find a more fitting place to live. The last four to five months she has been trying to find out who owns the plot next to her co-workers rented house, with a view to possibly rent it. So far, she has not been able to find the owner, and it is becoming very demotivating and stressful to find suitable accommodation, after having lived in a “temporary house” now for three years.
– Continue to pray for the youth, that they would get to know the Lord better and be more eager to study His Word for themselves.
– Pray for new dorm parents.
– Pray for the team in the city, that they continue to work well together, that the Lord will give them motivation, eagerness, wisdom, and strength.
– Pray for them as they write the new Bible studies.
Thank you so much for being a part of this work in prayer.
