Last month, Jan and Annette Wols who serve among the Lamogai people of Papua New Guinea, travelled to Australia to get some medical test done for Annette. The results were good and the medication helped, for which they are thankful. A further check can be done whilst they are on home assignment in the Netherlands over the summer.
In the meantime, they received the last four of seventeen literacy sets from the printshop at the mission centre in Goroka. The Lord has completely provided for this large printing project, which is now finished.
The shipment of Lamogai Bibles also arrived in PNG and was transported on two trucks to the centre. Each of the 300 boxes are being wrapped individually for their final trip and stay in the bush. To get the 3000 Bibles into Lamogai will take about seven trips with the mission plane.
Recently they went for a week to Lamogai, where they visited the two main locations in the north and in the south. They talked over the upcoming celebrations with the church leaders. The churches collected money to help pay for one of the flights to deliver the Bibles. The people do not have a lot; however, they continue to sacrificially contribute towards the work, which is very encouraging.
The people are building huts to be able to accommodate their guests. Toilet facilities are high on their agenda as they expect many people to come.
Much needs to happen before the Bibles are officially handed over to the Lamogai people, but with preparations underway they have started to celebrate the Bible in their own language, on any occasion singing praise to the Lord… these people know what is worth celebrating!
It will take until June to complete the preparations and fly a good number of Bibles into Lamogai. Jan and Annette are happy that these preparations have started with so much joy and thankfulness.
