Well underway

The new school year at Numonohi Christian Academy in Papua New Guinea is now well underway. For Becky Noble and her national teaching assistant, there are almost twice as many twelve to fourteen-year-olds learning Tok Pisin (the main national language of PNG) than she taught the previous year. Pray that the students would be motivated to develop their language skills to engage well with local people and be a good testimony to the surrounding community.

Becky has been asked a few times if she is disappointed not to be currently teaching music. Although Becky has previously enjoyed teaching music, she feels extremely burdened for the needs of the surrounding PNG community and is thankful for the extra time that she has at this stage to explore other ministry opportunities. Ultimately, she would love to see thriving churches in the area around Lapilo Centre. Continue to pray for clarity as to what her role in this should be and for the best way forward.

Pray for the new support missionaries, who have recently arrived. Becky is particularly seeking to help the ladies as they settle in and go through the orientation and training programme – known as E2. It takes several months before most new arrivals have learnt enough culture and language to start their support roles. Pray that Becky would be able to encourage them and help them make good connections in the community.

Pray for a real hunger for and commitment to studying God’s Word among Becky’s PNG friends; that they would encourage one another, grow in their faith, and be able to recognise unbiblical teaching.

Also pray for many who do not know how to read yet; that they would have a strong desire to learn, in order to feed daily on God’s truth themselves.

Lastly, pray that Becky would cherish God’s Word too, and prioritise her times with Him.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23
