Volunteer season

It is with much sadness and some relief that Geoff McNabb, who serves with his family at NTM Homes in Florida, can say that a very successful volunteer season has come to an end! Sadness because three months of working alongside those that volunteered was a real privilege and new friendships have been formed

The relief is due to the removal of the pressure of keeping everyone busy – it takes a lot of organising making sure everyone is where they need to be and has the equipment to do the work they have been given! Praise God about 98% of the work that was planned has been completed.

During their morning devotions the volunteers gave their testimonies of how Christ saved them and brought them to work at the Homes. Some of their stories were like Geoff’s – growing up in a Christian home, a farming background, and Christ using friends and family to bring them to Himself. It really brought it home to him that we have the same God whether in Northern Ireland, America or anywhere in the world, and Christ, His love and grace, are the common bond!

The biggest project completed was building a retaining wall etc., but others included:

– Paving a stretch of road,

– Several driveways

– Renovation of the landscaping at front of the property

– Renovation of three of the retirement homes

– New plumbing at five homes

Not to mention loads of other little jobs around site including maintenance of vehicles.

Praise God that for the men and women who are willing to sacrifice their time to help in this way!

Pray for Geoff, Dar Gail and family as they plan to visit Northern Ireland in the summer for a time of home assignment
