A few weeks ago, Stephen and Carolyn Crockett headed off to a different area of Asia-Pacific to help a few teams there with their Bible translation projects, and with some literacy. They are really more used to landing on airstrips on the side of a mountain with a little mission plane than travelling in a tippy boat, but they loved it and even more so being with the missionary team, as they worked on their different tasks with the goal of a mature church among the B people.
After spending most of the week with the B team, they headed back down river to a town to help a missionary lady by checking her translation in Romans and Matthew. This missionary grew up in the P people group and desires to see them also have God’s Word in their heart language. She has nearly finished translating the New Testament and portions of the Old Testament.
It also worked out perfectly for them to take a few days to go on a boat trip up a river to look at wildlife with a group of long-time missionary friends. The trip was a one last event with missionary pilot friends, who arrived in Asia-Pacific the same year and had flown them and their supplies in and out of the tribe many times. They will really miss them as they head back to the USA to start their next season of life.
The boat ride was an adventure and actually nicer than they expected. Probably the highlight of the trip was seeing all the monkeys come out to “roost” in the trees in the late afternoons while they glided up the river. Our Creator God has created a huge variety of animals! Also, sharing testimonies of God’s faithfulness and prayer times together after each meal was very special.
