Over the past weeks Konrad and Betty Binder have been following the situation in the Philippines with deep concern and much prayer. A powerful typhoon passed through the region and caused extensive destruction across the country. More than 230 people lost their lives, and the devastation is overwhelming.
The island where they have served was directly affected. Many homes in the village were damaged or destroyed. They are grateful to the Lord that none of the believers were injured. The church building suffered heavy damage – especially the roof, which will have to be replaced in large sections. The mission house was also hit hard, with parts of the roof torn off and heavy rain entering the rooms. For a short time, the people ran out of food, as their gardens were ravaged by the storm. Initial help has already been sent and received.
Next month Konrad and a team from Germany plan to travel to support the church and the community in the rebuilding process. They will focus on the church building and on repairing the roof of mission house. There is much to organise and prepare for this trip. Some time ago, their mission house was broken into, and many tools and essential items were stolen. Now they also need to gather and replace the equipment needed for the work ahead. Please pray for wisdom as they prepare, and for the practical challenges involved in planning a trip like this under these circumstances.
Praise:
That no one on the island was injured during the typhoon.
For the rapid response and the initial help that has already reached the village.
For the opportunity for Konrad to return to the Philippines with a team to help with the rebuilding work.
Pray for:
The church family as they face the challenges of rebuilding homes and community structures.
The repair of the church building and the many damaged houses in the village.
Restoration of the roof of the mission house and for the practical work ahead.
The team travelling next month – for protection, unity, and wisdom in every step.
Logistical challenges, especially as they must replace stolen tools and equipment needed for the rebuilding.
Ongoing recovery in the region, especially for those who have lost loved ones in the typhoon.
Konrad, Betty and family, to continue to walk with the Lord and serve Him faithfully in every opportunity He gives.
Thank you for standing with Konrad and Betty in prayer and for remembering the believers affected by the typhoon.
