Three more books

Becky Preheim is so thankful for your prayers. The Lord has done amazing things.

Becky asked for prayer about the weather! Thankfully the plane was able to make it to the Mengen village just in the nick of time.  Just as the plane was taking off, the fog was starting to roll in.  Afterwards the pilot told Becky that another ten minutes, and the plane would have been stuck in the village due to the rain. Thank the Lord for His faithfulness once again. As it turned out, in the next day few days the weather was too bad to fly. If the Mengen helpers would not have left just in God’s perfect timing, it is possible that the translation check would not have taken place.

They have finally finished checking the book of John. It was a long and strenuous week, with quite a bit of stress. Thankfully, the Lord provided grace and strength and they were able to make it to the end. Becky had been battling a very bad sinus cold for a few weeks.  She had been coughing quite a bit at night, but the Lord helped her throughout the day and she didn’t cough much at all when reading through all 21 chapters several times. In addition, her voice stayed strong in spite of everything! Praise the Lord for His goodness.

One of Becky’s helpers came down with malaria and is currently taking medication. They needed to visit the Highlands of Papua New Guinea for the second part of the translation check. For the three Mengen helpers this is a new experience! They will not have time for sightseeing, as they will be working long days six days a week while they are there.

Please pray for stamina for the translation team as they have another two weeks of work ahead of them. The main Mengen helper and Becky are especially tired after working on the book of John and they still have Matthew, Hebrews and Revelation to go! A HUGE amount of work in a short period. Pray for the mission translation consultants who are taking time from their own ministries to check these books.  It has taken a huge team to bring the Mengen New Testament to completion and they are thankful that finally they are seeing the work come to completion.
