Kirk and Yolanda are currently on home assignment in the USA, and in their words ‘moving around like nomads’. Unsurprisingly, God has always answered their prayer regarding housing. Recently they enjoyed the opportunity to share with an adult Sunday school class about what God is doing among the Landuma people. The group was very interested and had many good questions about Bible translation and planting a church among a people group which was until recently untouched by God’s Good News.
During all this time living in various places in the local area, they have been commuting to Kirk’s Dad’s house, and more recently to the hospital and nursing home, to help with his care. Pray that his condition improves to the point where it would be possible to manage his ongoing care at home.
Kirk and Yolanda keep in contact with those among whom they serve in West Africa. A few weeks ago, two Landuma believers visited a village where there has been an outreach to encourage the seekers there. The most enthusiastic of them has continued to listen to the recorded Bible lessons and share them with others. He has not yet declared his faith in Christ, but he knows the message is important, and he wants others to hear it. One time, when he was teaching others what the Bible says, he recorded himself with his phone. When the two believers visited, he played the recording for them. He wanted them to listen to it and provide feedback on whether he was teaching correctly! They were amazed and encouraged by what they heard on the recording. It seems he really conveyed the message well! Pray for them as they continue to explain to this villager and his neighbours “the way of God more adequately.”
This incident reminded Kirk and Yolanda Acts 18:24-26 “Meanwhile a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was a learned man, with a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures. He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and he spoke with great fervour and taught about Jesus accurately, though he knew only the baptism of John. He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately.”
Please pray for Yolanda, who fell sick this past weekend and is still not completely recovered. Perhaps it is some sort of flu or cold. Pray that she can rest well and that the Lord heals her soon. Pray for them also as they leave the temporary flat they are in and move to yet another place in a nearby city.
Thank you for your prayers!
