The last four months for Andrew and Cathy Goud were packed with ministry opportunities. They thank God for allowing them to enjoy that time with the Wusuraambya people in Papua New Guinea, and for keeping them safe as they travelled back to Canada.
Since their arrival back in Canada, two weeks ago they have been doing summer chores. They plan to see their family who live in a different area and when they return to continue translation checking with their Wusuraambyan helpers via the internet.
While they were in PNG the mission tech guys set up a solar power system, and Andrew installed an Android tablet in the literacy school. Over a video call, Cathy will continue reading Hebrews to their helpers in PNG. They will tell her what they heard in their own words and she will make notes. Andrew will then adjust the text as necessary. Pray that the internet connection will be good so that they can work effectively.
On their last Sunday in Wusuraambya they were delighted to see many believers from the outreach church hike four hours to worship at the home church. They sang a song about it now being their turn to share the Gospel. There were not many dry eyes in the service. What is so incredible is that many years ago Andrew and Cathy taught those who have since, along with other Wusuraambyans, taken the Gospel to many others. Now Christ’s church numbers in the hundreds. All the glory goes to God who has worked in hearts to bring people to Himself. Worshipping the Lord together with believers from many Wusuraambya villages brought tears to Cathy’s eyes! A little taste of heaven! Only God could accomplish such great things.
At the end of their time in PNG, they attended the district Bible conference. People from six different languages – Wantakia, Menya, Aziana, Adakombi, Norambi and Wusuraambya (both the home church and the outreach church) walked for many hours to attend. It was hosted by the Norambi church that only has about twenty members. They were challenged from God’s Word by a Bible teacher who came from Bena, just outside Goroka. He had never flown before or even been out of his village much. He had an amazing knowledge of God’s Word; God has gifted him as a teacher. Andrew was the other guest speaker. Ladies and men had separate sessions. Each language group had to give a short ministry report. Many of the believers are facing real persecution from other religious groups. There is much that discourages them, and yet they find joy in the Lord and keep pressing on. God is building His church, and the gates of hell will not prevail! Please pray for these dear brothers and sisters who are tucked away in the rugged mountains of Papua New Guinea.
Thank you for standing with Andrew, Cathy and the Wusuraambya through your prayers.
