Spiritual exercise

As part of their continuing equipping for mission in Mexico, at the beginning of January Daniel and Debby Braun and family travelled to Mexico City which was a really wonderful and totally exciting experience. They gathered many new impressions and insights into the culture and history of the country.

They are realising more and more how important good language skills are for truly taking relationships to a deeper level. While they can usually manage “superficial” small talk quite well, it is quite another thing for them to understand when someone talks about their life, explains their worldview, or expresses their wishes and hopes. Both in terms of vocabulary and language, as well as culturally, they are still in their infancy. Sometimes this is a little frustrating because they would so much like to “go deeper”. But it is also a motivation to persevere and continue to invest energy and effort in studying the language so that they will eventually be ready; knowing and believing that they need the Holy Spirit and His guidance to do so and to do well.

They have recently been busy dealing with the process of buying a car! They are so grateful that God has provided them with the financial means. This week they received their driver’s licenses (for which they had to attend a 40-minute theory lesson and then write a 30-question test). Now they can register and insure a Mexican vehicle.
