Solar power

While sitting in his office working on the Isnag translation project, Jonathan Bamford heard a disturbance in the yard. On investigation he found that large solar panels were being delivered, a gift from the local government. Each house in the village in the Philippines where he serves with his wife Heidi, was getting a complete solar electric system. Easily 25 times more electricity than any of the village people had ever had. The systems came with all kinds of buttons and switches and 220-volt AC electricity.

Many of the people had no idea how to use the new systems. It wasn’t long before the first battery exploded, and it filled a house with smoke; another followed.

Jonathan invited anyone interested in learning about electricity to attend a special lesson and hopefully the information and instruction he gave will help to keep them safe.

Prayer and Praise:

  • They are thankful for the progress being made on the translation. Their translation consultant is currently reviewing the translation of the book of Luke. Jonathan’s language assistant is reviewing the book of John. Jonathan is working on some portions of Genesis while he waits for Luke and John to land on his desk again.
  • They are also thankful that they have been able to get some maintenance jobs accomplished on their co-worker’s house. She is back in the Philippines and Lord willing will arrive in the village this coming Saturday. Please pray that she will have a smooth transition back to village ministry.
