Kristine serves in Asia-Pacific and at the end of September there was an annual conference for the churches in a more rural location. There were ministry meetings, updates from many locations and Bible teaching. The team from the city where Kristine serves took the opportunity to do some events for the kids and youth. The kids had meetings in the afternoons learning about the life of King David and playing fun games. The youth gathered in the evenings for teaching on God’s character and some games and sports too. Kristine made the youth a booklet with the teaching materials, questions, puzzles and games. They seemed to enjoy those, but a lot more people than anticipated showed up, so they had to share a booklet between two or three people. It was anticipated that up to 100 kids would attend the kids programme, but one of the afternoons they ran out of coloring sheets, even though 125 sheets had been printed! Its very encouraging when a lot of kids participate…and very noisy.
The adults went through two chapters of the book of Joshua, focusing on learning how to study the Bible for themselves. Besides all of these activities the missionary team also had several meetings with the leaders of the different villages to discuss the youth work. They are struggling to have a thriving youth programme where they invest in their youth in many places interior. This seems to be mainly due to no one person being specifically in charge. Please pray that they would be able to appoint youth team/leaders that want to be actively involved and who the missionary team can work closely with when they are interior.
In the city things are mostly going along as usual for Kristine with youthwork, dorm activities, administration, and language learning. This September the team also hosted a regional conference for Ethnos360 in their city for all workers in the region as well as visitors from other islands.
One new activity the team are doing is a smaller girl’s discipleship groups for the dorm girls, Kristine and co-worker Joanna are meeting to get to know them even better. Most other youth ministry activities are in bigger groups. Please pray for the three girls Kristine is meeting with, that they would know the Lord better and better.
At the end of Novermber they were planning on another youth and kids conference in a rural village, but it had to be cancelled due to the plane they would use needing to be serviced.
Kristine has been been waiting on a plumber to put in new water pipes and fix some other pipes that leak. The house is old and things constantly break or stop functioning. It seems fore very one thing that gets fixed, another two things break. She would love to move to a different place, but reasonable housing with a yard for the dogs is hard to come by. Keep this in your prayers too.
Thank you for praying.
