Rainy season

Where Anna lives and serves in West Africa the rainy season began in June. Whenever rain is about to fall, it is preceded by a strong wind. There are only two seasons: the dry season and the so-called “winter” season. During this season, there is flooding due to torrential rains, and the sandy roads in the suburbs turn into rivers, carrying away everything in their path, especially street rubbish. The rain certainly benefits the agricultural fields, but it increases the risk of malaria and other diseases.

In the city the rainwater drainage network is insufficient to cope with intense and prolonged rainfall, resulting in water accumulating in the streets which mixes with sewage.

A few weeks ago, Anna had an infection in her body, which was initially treated with antibiotics, thinking it was an insect bite. However, the infection on her leg returned and she had other infections. The infections are now being treated with specific antibiotics. Pray for Anna’s complete healing and that these bacteria will leave her body once and for all!

Recently Anna was able to attend a friend’s civil wedding and then church wedding. A truly wonderful experience! Pray for the couple that their marriage may give glory to God.

She is grateful for the new apartment that God has provided for her and her two friends. They have introduced themselves to the people who live in the same building. Pray for opportunities to share about the Saviour. Anna and her flatmates love hosting people, especially locals.

Pray for all the young women Anna ministers to in church. They all have incredible stories behind them. Pray that God will give her the wisdom to know how to help them, and that she may continue to be a reference point for them, without judging, but showing love and speaking the truth in love, as the Lord calls us to do (Ephesians 4:15).

Anna’s local church where she serves in West Africa has a congregation where the majority are from other African countries, often students or workers. It often happens that they leave to return to their country of origin, but in the meantime, they have become part of the church. Pray for the stability of the church, as well as its growth. Pray that local believers will rise up for Jesus. Pray for those who leave, that they may remain steadfast in their faith.

Pray that the Bible becomes available to unreached people groups in West Africa. Pray for soft hearts to receive the only truth, and that they listen to and obey the words of the Lord. Pray for a desire to attend the teaching.

Pray also for missionaries living in the villages, learning the local languages, for protection, for stamina, spiritual protection, and strength.
Pray for the printing of the translated New Testament in languages that will be ready to be given to people soon.
