Opened Eyes, Changed Hearts

Phil and Elin Henderson have had an amazing opportunity to see eyes opened, hearts changed, captives set free and destinies forever altered. They have seen the hand of God at work and moving in so many amazing ways among the Mwinika people in Mozambique over the past several months. They feel privileged to be part of the miracles that He continues to do in the hearts and lives of people.

While Phil continues in the village for another intense month of ministry, Elin’s short months there have already ended. They praise the Lord for good health and stamina during this very busy season of ministry.

Elin had a part in teaching the ladies’ Bible study groups and seeing God raise up teachers within each one. One group is already established with its own teachers, but the other two groups were only recently started up by Elin. Many of her close friends attended these studies and praise the Lord, many have come to know Him!  Several of these ladies are also involved in teaching children’s groups!  God is at work!!

They have loved working with three amazing couples over the past several months, meeting once sometimes twice a week, studying the Word and discussing the realities of a spirit-led life. They are now ready and excited to start discipling more believing couples.

Elin is also thankful for the opportunity to help the community with health-related issues. God has used this to draw many to himself.

It was great to have one last meeting with her literacy coordinators. They are excited to jump into another year of literacy outreaches.

Phil, along with several other Bible teachers, began a new Creation to Revelation study with a new group nearby. He doesn’t often get a chance to teach, so it has been great for him to work hand-in-hand with this Bible teaching team.

An opportunity that has opened up recently was in the area of recording. They have purchased another set of solar-powered audio players and four Mwinika men spent several weeks at a recording studio, recording the available Scriptures. This, along with Bible lessons, will be placed on the players. They are very excited to see how God uses this tool in helping many who cannot read to have access to God’s Word!

From setting up new solar systems to getting the plumbing and electrics all running smoothly, they are forever grateful for the help of a co-worker who willingly used his gifts and abilities to help finish their house.

Phil and Elin also visited Latin America for two weeks of leadership meetings. They thoroughly enjoyed catching up with old friends, meeting new friends, hearing what God is doing in Latin America in raising up many new labourers for the harvest fields and guiding the Latin American fields in moving forward together. Phil and Elin then parted ways. Phil returned to the village for another month of concentrated work on translation. Elin returned to the USA.

Last week Elin took part in the annual Ministry Fair at the Ethnos 360 Missions Training Centre representing the field of Southeast Africa. She enjoyed hearing about the needs around the world, meeting the new students, and catching up with the second year students.

PRAISE FOR:

• Safety in all their travels over the past few weeks.

• A blessed time with the Latin American teams and for the Lord’s direction and hand upon the time of discussion and planning.

• The salvation and transformation of many souls among the Mwinika in the past month.

• God’s great provision of Bible teachers for the ladies’ Bible groups.

• The completion of their house and for all of the help in getting it done.

• New opportunities to teach among the Mwinika people.

• The new Scripture recordings.

PLEASE PRAY FOR:

• The three ladies’ groups that they, along with several other groups in other areas, will continue to meet and grow in their faith.

• The new Bible study that Phil is part of, that many will come to know the Lord and grow in their faith through this study

• The new literacy classes starting up in the next few weeks

• The three couples that went through a discipleship programme, that the Lord will lead them to other couples to disciple and for their continued growth

•  God to use the Scripture recordings in a powerful way among the Mwinika people.

• Elin’s upcoming annual cancer checks.

• For strength for Phil as he is on his own in the village, that God will help him and his translation team as they work to finish up several big projects.

As you can see above, God has been at work in some amazing ways! This is truly due to the prayers of His saints. Thank you for your part through prayer in reaching the Mwinika people.
