Even a tropical downpour could not dampen the excitement generated by the arrival of 3,750 Loron New Testaments in the village last week.
The New Testaments first arrived in Abidjan, Ivory Coast in mid-February, but by the time all the paperwork was completed and fees and charges levied and paid, almost four months have gone by. The Loron believers are thrilled to receive the New Testaments, and Paul and Marina Briggs are relieved that, finally, they are there safely in Loron territory. It has been a long, slow process.
The Loron church leaders are arranging a dedication for the New Testaments at the end of July. They have ordered special T-shirts for the event and have invited the national media and social media content creators, as well as local and national dignitaries to the ceremony. They are praying that it will be a Gospel witness and testimony to those who attend, and to the whole region.
Pray that the Lord will use these New Testaments to draw many more Loron people to Himself.
The Loron translation team has been very busy over the past months. Three members of the team received further training in Bible translation principles and procedures during the month of March, as well as participating in a workshop on the book of Proverbs. Also, at the beginning of this month, the team completed the final translation consultant-check on the book of 1 Samuel. Burkina Faso’s national Bible and literacy organisation, ANTBA, has been helping the Loron translators with training and checking the translated material. The members of ANTBA have been a big help and encouragement to the team.
Please pray as they get the book of 1 Samuel printed and begin work on performing the various checks on 2 Samuel in preparation for the final Bible-consultant check towards the end of the year.
