Since September Gabi has been learning on the job in the mission’s business office in West Africa. There are some tasks that she can already do on her own, but there is still much to learn when it comes to processes that are done less often. However, she enjoys the work. Gabi is also thankful for her patient colleagues that are training her.
In October the Bible school for local Christians began. The course is similar to the one at North Cotes College, England but was adapted to the West Africa context. Gabi’s host parents and another person from her local church are among the students. The Bible school is led by a small team from the mission. She is not part of the team but was able to help out with music and some other things on the kick-off weekend for the course.
The Bible school team and the support team are quite stretched as there are only a few of them. They are few people, and are often reminded how much they depend on the Lord. Pray for more co-workers with a heart for these ministries.
Recently, Gabi attended her local church’s retreat weekend. Spending three days at a camp next to a beach outside the city. There were challenges like staying awake and focused despite little sleep or sitting in a group where the whole conversation happened in Wolof (and not in French). but all in all, she really appreciated the time spent together as a church. Gabi especially enjoyed some good conversations with different people, and making music and singing all together.
Gabi’s home assignment in Paraguay starts later this month. Lord willing, she will return to West Africa next year and continue to serve in the business office.
Praise the Lord:
– that Gabi can be part of the business office and the support team for missionaries
– for a good start of the Bible school for local Christians
– for the Lord’s help and a blessed time at the church retreat
Please pray:
– that the Bible school students would get a good foundation in God’s Word and grow in their faith
– for more co-workers to join the team in the city
– for home assignment: the last days in West Africa, a safe trip, a good transition, and that she would be a blessing to others when she is in Paraguay
Thank you so much for your faithful prayers and support.
