Kirk and Yolanda Rogers serve among the Landuma people in West Africa, and are in the heart of rainy season, with frequent heavy rainfall.
Pray for the Landuma people as they tend to their crops, that they would remain safe, and have an abundant harvest. Pray that God provides for each household their “daily bread”; these months waiting for crops to ripen is the “hungry season.”
A man who lives in a village some distance away, and has not yet embraced the Gospel message, has been listening enthusiastically to foundational Bible lessons on an audio player. Though he is blind, he has been fervent in talking about the teaching, and loaning the audio lessons to his friends, both in his village as well as in others.
Recently, Kirk and Yolanda, along with four Landuma believers, traveled to the blind man’s village to share the Word with a group the man had called together. Kirk explained why they had come to live among the Landuma people, and then one of the believers shared his testimony of why he believes the Bible, and he taught from important foundational truths from Genesis.
The group received the message with open hearts. A couple of young men who had previously been opposed to the Bible teaching remarked (paraphrasing), “Now that we have heard this ourselves, we know that it is a good and true message from God that no one can argue against.”
Kirk and Yolanda recently had a good field conference with their colleagues in Guinea. But they are very few, and the needs are great. Pray that God would provide more missionaries to join them in the work of reaching Guineans with the Good News that God loves them and wants to welcome them into His family, through faith in what God did in the death and resurrection of the Saviour Jesus.
Kirk’s father who lives in the USA continues to suffer from poor health, and his care is an increasing challenge for the family there. Please pray for him, and for Kirk’s stepmum as she cares for him. Kirk and Yolanda will have to leave their work among the Landuma people for a time to help, beginning in early October. This move will interrupt their ministry among the Landuma people, which is, of course, very important. But they believe that ‘God calls us to care for our family in times of need’, so they must make this a priority as well.
Kirk and Yolanda praise the Lord that they have enjoyed good health these past months. Thank you for praying for them.
