Daniél (Neil) and Corinne were both greatly encouraged by seeing the missionary work in Senegal first hand. It was a valuable reminder of what they are passionate about: seeing Christ proclaimed to all, in capital cities as well as in remote villages, to men and women of all cultures and nations. Corinne especially enjoyed being able to better understand the needs in translation and the context of the projects she has already started. They were grateful for the Lord’s help in the challenges due to Daniél’s mobility and health issues during their Senegalese trip. At the same time, this short stay has confirmed that living in Senegal is not an option for them. The challenges would be so many that daily life would become a burden, limiting the time and energy we want to devote to serving the Lord.
Daniél has started his studies at IBC (Irish Baptist College). They made a trip to Ireland in mid-October to attend the first module for three days. Daniél now has until mid-February to write two essays on the subject of pastoral care, which he is excited about. Given that he has to return to Ireland in February and that flights are cheaper from the Netherlands, they intend to stay there until the end of February and return to France at the beginning of March.
Things are moving slowly but surely. Daniél has started driving lessons for an adapted car (the brake and accelerator are connected to hand levers which he needs to learn how to use). Once he obtains his adapted licence, they will apply for financial help for purchasing and adapting an automatic car. Other administrative procedures are still ongoing. Daniél is still waiting to be registered with the French healthcare system. They would appreciate your prayers in this, as these things can be a long and discouraging process…
Praise the Lord for:
A good start into studying for Daniél and a few blessed days in Ireland.
Their discoveries in Senegal and His protection.
His presence with us every day and His strength in our challenges.
Pray for:
Daniél’s studies and his service to churches in the NL (sermons, presentation of mission work).
The missionary work in Senegal and Corinne’s translation projects.
Paperwork and the bureaucratic system.
