Heading back

Alessandro, Chantal and family are heading back to Senegal after a time of home assignment.

Their trip to Italy at the beginning of June had a few hiccups. They finally arrived at their destination eleven hours later than planned, without their luggage. Fortunately, they did receive it three days later. The compensation they received was generous and covered a good portion of their plane tickets. Thank you, Lord!

They were welcomed warmly by their Italian family, whom they had not seen for six years. What a joy for them to be reunited and what a blessing to be able to spend this time with them! The children have very few memories of their past visits since they were so young. They were able to create precious memories, discover beautiful places and savour delicious Italian food. Interestingly, one of their biggest challenges has been the humid heat. This past month, the temperatures were consistently 35-36°C which limited their outdoors activities. It was, however, a good excuse to enjoy lots of ice cream.

Their three-week trip to northern Italy went well. It wasn’t easy changing locations every two to three days and adjusting to all the new situations, but God provided in so many ways. It was a joy to reconnect with the churches that have been faithfully praying for and supporting their ministry for so many years. They had the opportunity of sharing with them what God is doing in West Africa and were blessed by their love, interest and enthusiasm.

As they return to ‘normal’ life. Pray for their readjustment. Pray for the children as they return to school on August 14th. Pray for Alessandro and Chantal as they resume their responsibilities in the finance office and as part of the West African leadership team. They are aware of their need of God at every moment and are counting on your prayers!

Thank you for praying about the need of a host for the guesthouse in Dakar. One of the missionary families will be relocating to Dakar to meet this need until the end of the year. Please pray that God will provide someone for this important ministry in the new year.
