He keeps His promises!

Since May, a lot has happened for Boris and Valentina Bergen and family, and they are happy to be able to tell you about what the LORD has done. In good times as well as in difficult times, He promised to be with them! They testify that, He keeps His promises!

Boris received the new CAR-T Cell therapy at the end of May. For this he had to stay in the hospital for three weeks, as the side effects can sometimes be extreme. To the glory of God, and as an answer to prayer, and to the amazement of the doctors NONE of the side effects occurred. Boris had a fever and nothing else. He was released after three weeks and was able to spend the next eight weeks at home.

In June, a scan showed that the therapy is working well at fighting the cancer. However, they had to wait and pray again that there would be nothing more of the cancer in August. They are incredibly grateful to God for giving them His deep peace, a peace that surpasses all understanding, as He promises it in His Word. (Phil 4:7) in this waiting time. They are also grateful to God for His work in them, and for all who prayed.

By July, Boris began to have an appetite again, his strength came back, his hair grew again and slowly the “old” Boris reappeared. So they were happy to finally be able to spend a holiday time together as a family. Boris still had to go for regular check-ups because his blood count was low. But there was no other therapy and no hospitalisation. He must still manage his activity levels. But they are grateful to God that he is doing so well.

Only by God’s grace were they able to experience calm in the storm. A further scan in August showed that no more cancer activity has been detected. All tumours were GONE! Praise the Lord and praise the name of the God who does miracles. They were able to celebrate that God used medicine to eliminate the tumours. Glory to HIM!

Of course, during all the joy and gratitude for such good news it was followed by the question: What now? Currently, Boris still goes for weekly check-ups because his blood count is still low. His body needs to recover so they wait for the levels to improve, then he can go for rehab and hopefully build up more strength and endurance.

After that, he will hopefully be so fit that the doctor will slowly let him work again. For them, “working” means that they can officially start home assignment, give presentations, visit and invite people, churches, home groups, etc. and report on God’s greatness.

All this accompanied by regular visits to the oncologist, because Boris’ type of cancer is one that unfortunately in many cases comes back. But here, too, they want to trust instead of worry.

Now they continue to wait until Boris ́’s body has recovered; his immune system is built up and his blood values are stable again.
