André and Aurélie Tousch and family are spending a few days in Port Moresby, the capital city of Papua New Guinea, before they fly to France thisweek.
Last week they were in Goroka for a translation check of some Iski New Testament portions. Along with a consultant, they checked quite a few portions, which brings them to a bit more than fifty percent of the New Testament in the Iski language.
The completed books are Mark, Acts, Romans, 1 Corinthians, Ephesians, 1 & 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, and Titus. The team have also translated other portions from the Old and New Testaments. Now they will prepare to print a book with all those portions. This ‘half-NT’ will be the believers’ daily bread in the coming years. The new book will replace the one they edited in 2017 which only contained portions of Scripture and no full book. Each person who has completed the literacy programme will get a free copy.
Whether you live in the UK or in the swamps of the jungle like the Iski people, owning a copy of the Bible does not help unless you read it and put it into practise! Easier said than done, but what an encouragement when believers decide to apply God’s Word to their lives and obey Him rather than conforming to the surrounding culture.
- Pray that the believers will continue to grow in faith, sanctification and fellowship.
- Pray for the church in the second location. The attendance has more than doubled since the recent outreach.
- Pray for the two couples who are strong believers from the initial church, who have gone to help the young church, that they will be examples and pillars.
- Pray for their colleagues Seth and Rochelle, during André and Aurélie’s six-month home assignment in Paris.
André and Aurélie thank you for your prayers for the Iski church.
