There are things in life that have both good and bad sides. That is how Adrian and Evelyn Jotter feel right now regarding the persistent drought in their area: transporting building materials in is easier than ever – all the tiles for their co-worker Martha’s house could be delivered by a small truck right to her doorstep and the steel for their own roof extension project could be delivered as well. On the other hand, people in the village have to hike further up the mountain to fetch drinking water, and this has impacted them too. The extra measures required to live take up a lot of time and mental energy, and they have found it difficult to get back into their language studies amidst the construction noise right next to their house.
They are grateful that Hanna, their new home school helper for Melissa and Lukas, has arrived safely and is settling in well so far. Adrian’s parents visited for three weeks and were a great help with daily tasks, which allowed Adrian and Evelyn to make good progress in language learning.
They are so grateful to see the many relationships God has already blessed them with in the village.
PRAISE
Adrian found an excellent language helper and was able to dive right into phase 3.
Hanna – their new home school helper has arrived and is settling well. They finally have school supplies and have been able to start the school year.
Evelyn was able to get her passport renewed.
The road to their village was repaired mid-August and is in better condition than ever – at least for as long as it stays dry. All the building materials for the roof extension were delivered and work on the roof has begun.
PRAYER
For RAIN! It is incredibly dry and there is a water shortage in the village.
For the completion of the roof extension project – they are getting closer to having a finished house.
For Hanna to adjust well to living life with them as a family in the Philippines and that they find a good rhythm together.
For continued motivation in language and culture learning. As their understanding increases, requests from the people in the village become more complex – please pray for abundant wisdom from God and good team communication.
Their co-workers, the Phillips family during their home assignment, as they travel and give presentations.
Martha’s house building – it should get to the point of her being able to move in this month.
