With only two weeks before Steve and Gerdine Stanley and family were due to move to the UK for the next part of their home assignment they still had nowhere to live. Jesus’ words in Matthew 6 to not be anxious became their focus as they continued to pursue leads with different estate agents.
In answer to prayer, they were contacted out of the blue about potentially staying in the Manse belonging to a church in the Bracknell area.
An amazing provision from the Lord, with the flexibility to potentially return to PNG sooner if they want to and at a reduced rent. The church has already been blessing them with groceries, furniture, and assistance.
Steve and Gerdine know God’s blessing, sometimes last minute, and have their own space for the next months in the UK. They have also been loaned a car for the duration.
They are currently thinking of staying in the UK until January. Their plans are to:
• See friends and family
• Reconnect with supporting churches
• Rest and refresh before returning to PNG
• Continue with home school with Oscar, Alice and Millie
• Raise awareness of the spiritual needs of remote peoples in PNG
• Get medical check-ups to confirm they are in good health
• Make progress with the Kovol literacy materials and Bible translation
Pray that they would be able to balance the different tasks well so that as a family they would be healthy and happy for a continued ministry in Kovol, Papua New Guinea.
