The last few months have been busy for Michi, Manu and family who serve in Asia-Pacific, but they have always been sure and can testify that God sees them [El Roi], is always with them [Immanuel] and provides them with everything they need [Jehovah Jireh].
Not only was there a lot going on – but they also learnt a lot. One of their children was seriously ill in June and July. At first it was thought to be ‘dengue-fever’, but when there was no improvement for a long time, additional blood tests showed that he had a severe blood infection. The doctors were at a loss and didn’t know how to treat him. Michi and Manu often felt uncertain and helpless.
After a long five weeks, he slowly regained his strength and recovered. For them, this was a great miracle! They were encouraged to see how many people prayed for Jeremiah’s health and carried them through this with their prayers. Experiencing God’s peace regardless of their circumstances [Jehovah Rapha] – The God Who Heals!
Something very special happened right after this challenging time – family visited them. Michi and Manu never take for granted when people travel so far to visit them. It means so, so much for them to share their life in Asia-Pacific with people from back home.
Others visited and encouraged them too. It was often the little things that made these encounters so special and made them very special memories.
Michi and Manu have been facing another big decision. It’s about where they should or want to serve long-term. In September, it was helpful that Manu and a co-worker had the opportunity to fly to the small coastal town on another island to take a closer look at the ministry opportunities there. It is a possibility that they could serve there in youth ministry. The plan is to move around summer next year. Right now they continue to pray before starting to take active steps in this direction in the new year, as the Lord leads.
They are grateful to God for…
…their son’s restored health
…HIS promises that are rooted in HIS character
…lots of visitors
…growing relationships and friendships
…making good progress in learning the language
Pray for God to…
…help them know HIM and HIS character more deeply
…clearly guide them in the upcoming decision
…continue giving them motivation, strength, and health to learn the language
…deepen their relationships and friendships even more
…equip them with mercy and grace toward their children as they navigate being parents, teachers and friends to them
