One of the things that God has been teaching Clark and Mary Aspinwall lately is how they need to cling to Him and His character. Knowing He is a loving God, there is still the temptation to measure that love based on the circumstances they find themselves in. But He assures them that HE IS LOVE, not based on how they interpret His working, but because that is just who He is. ALL that He does is loving because it comes out of who He is.
Recently, they had an amazing two weeks in Northern Ireland with friends who they have served with in Southeast Asia mainland! It was a first time for them, and they totally enjoyed getting acquainted with life in that part of the world and were astounded by the beauty. The fellowship they enjoyed with these beloved friends was so uplifting, and they got to visit several other dear friends as well and were introduced to their church community where they were warmly welcomed and made to feel a real part of the family. Clark’s health was never an issue, either during the flights or in all that they got to enjoy while they were there. They were incredibly blessed by the Lord!
Upon their return to the USA, they had an appointment the very next day with a radiologist who recommended ten sessions of re-radiation for Clark. This may start as early as Monday and go for two weeks. Upon completion of that, he will then move on to a different treatment.
Meanwhile, they have been able to be home for a week. This just happens to be the week of “ministry fair” – a time where representatives from many of the countries where the mission is currently working present their ministries to the candidates at the missionary training centre. This gives them an opportunity to see the various needs and have a better of idea of where they might best fit in. Clark and Mary are thankful to be able to join in on this and will likely be able to catch up with some people they have known through the years.
Please pray for a family concern. Since March their daughter, husband and two children, have been back in the USA from Southeast Asia mainland for their time of home assignment. As they started to prepare for their return, their daughter who is currently 26 weeks pregnant with their third child had an ultrasound that showed significant growth restriction in the baby. Their oldest who had been induced at 39 weeks due to pre-eclampsia, was born at only 3 ½ pounds, but they were only aware of this growth restriction at the time of birth. Now it looks like this might be happening once again. Understandably, they have decided to delay their return until after the birth of the baby. Their daughter will be monitored closely, and it’s possible the baby might need to be delivered early if prolonged time in the womb will endanger his/her life.
Thank you for your prayers!
