Ragnar and Elizabeth Niclasen are so thankful for all who have been praying for them over the last few months. God has certainly answered and brought them safely on the long journey from their home in Baguio, Philippines, to their home in Fonthill, Cananda. Arriving in Toronto, June 11 after 30+ hours of travel, even though it was 6:30 a.m., they were delighted to see their son Ryan’s big smile at the airport. That afternoon they were able to attend their grandchildren’s piano recital. Another special occasion soon followed – their oldest grandsons’ High School graduation.
July was highlighted with their son Craig, wife Claire and their three teenage daughters visiting from England for two-and-a-half-weeks. The time the fourteen of them had together was super amazing. Lots of long talks, table games and fun activities keep those special memories alive. They trust that it won’t be another six years before that happens again.
Saying goodbye to their Kankanaey brothers and sisters in Christ, is never easy, but saying hello to their family sure is!
Ragnar has kept busy with on-line teaching and discipleship and using each spare moment working on lessons for the Kankanaey. Elizabeth has enjoyed a reunion with her two sisters in the USA.
They would love to return to the Kankanaey in September, but they are waiting to see what God’s plan is for them in the coming weeks. They are encouraged with the improvements in Elizabeth’s injured leg. Since arriving in Ontario, she has not used the cane or walker around the house. That is a HUGE step. (She still uses them when she leaves the house.) Although she has strong pain in her shin and foot basically 24/7, which often keeps her awake at night, they are thankful that the pain in her thigh has dwindled. Elizabeth has seen several doctors since coming ‘home’ and is scheduled for more tests in September. They would appreciate your continued prayers for their situation and for them to have peace about what their next steps should be.
