Flexibility

Jonathan and Naomi planned to spend their last weekend in West Africa before their home assignment on a break, anticipating the British cold weather on returning. It never happened! One of their children hurt his foot and a transport strike meant they could not travel which resulted in the break being cancelled, with no financial penalties (thanks to African flexibility).

Having already said their goodbyes to brothers and sisters at their church, Jonathan, along with two of their children, attended an evangelical church where they had worshipped during the first six months of their time in the capital. They still have many good friends there. During the service, Jonathan was asked to stand up and say a few words. He told them of their plans for church planting in the south. At the end of the service, Jonathan and the elders were all called up to the front. Jonathan was told that he had never left the church and that he was still part of the family and that they were going to send them out too!

Instead of a weekend break, they got something even better… a second African sending church! Pray that the Lord will use Jonathan and Naomi to ignite a fire for the great commission in this dear church. They would love to see them sending out their own missionaries into Africa.

Jonathan and Naomi arrived back in the UK last week. Please pray for them as they adjust.
