Philip and Vina Le Roux have seen God do so many wonderful things over the past years. The church is in a place they truly never dreamed it would be. The believers are growing in knowledge and faith; they are stepping up to serve, there are various ministries being led without much assistance from Phil or Vina, and now they even have a beautiful, physical church building!
It has long been their desire to see Agutaya Bible Church be a self-sustaining, truly indigenous church. Although they are getting closer, there is still have a long way to go before this is a reality. Phil and Vina continue to provide all the teaching materials for the different ministries; writing the lessons up for the Bible Studies and training the people presenting them who are eager but not yet able.
The church members are contributing financially but need to be able to support a pastor. Pray for wisdom, provision, patience, endurance, and humility.
Pray that Phil and Vina will serve well so that when the time eventually comes, they will finish well!
Pray for:
- The Farm Church in South Africa. The pastor’s brother was reported missing and, after three days, was found dead in the river. Pray for comfort for the family and a continued desire to see the lost saved. Pray that those who gather at the church each Sunday will be encouraged in the Lord and that they will reach out to those around them. May many be saved!
- The next building projects: Sunday school classrooms to be added to the new church, and a school on another island.
- The Bible Studies with the women, men, and police and that more will attend.
- The youth ministry, that the teenagers will come to salvation, and those who are saved will grow.
- Progress regarding a lady’s family allowing her to have Bible Study at her home again.
- Phil and Vina’s children, for their safety and health and for them to love the Lord above all.
- The Lord to provide an indigenous, local pastor for Agutaya Bible Church! Several weeks ago, people were appointed to various official co-ordinator roles, as well as four deacons. Phil has been pouring into the deacons and men in the church as the future leaders. In the past few weeks, one of the men has been presenting the men’s Bible studies that Phil puts together. He is a natural! He is so excited about all he is learning and for the opportunity to share it with others. The co-ordinators have various roles, including Sunday school and worship/music.
Phil and Vina are focusing on teaching and training the believers. They will be going on home assignment at the end of November, which will allow them to see how the church does in a prolonged time of their absence. It will almost be five years since they left South Africa, and they are excited to reconnect with everyone again. At the same time, they will still be working from afar with their beloved brothers and sisters in Christ on Agutaya via the internet.
