Basically, all that Ron and Michelle Jennings, who serve among the Higaunon people of the Philippines, had planned to do with the work on the book of Job, and the completion of their updated literacy programme is finished. With the new satellite dish set up and working well, they pray that they will be able to continue while they are home so that Ron can keep connected with his language helpers while back in Australia.
Lord willing in less than two weeks, Ron and Michelle will be landing in Australia! They are looking forward to a break when they get home again.
The previous time they were in the Philippines they converted all of their teaching materials for the church to a new format to fit on the leaders’ phones. However, during that process, they could see many places that needed revising for easier reading. But at that time, they could not do that. Now they have been able start work on that revision process. Ron does the revision on the lessons, breaking up long sentences to make for easier reading. He then passes the revisions on to their language helpers who go through them on a laptop and list any needed corrections or additions. Ron then incorporates those changes. A separate copy for printing must be produced because they now need to have printed copies that reflect the revised content of the phone lessons. They want the new hard copies to look the same as the phone lessons and have done that by using double columns on the page.
The phone lessons are in PDF format and laid out for the phones, so they must be reformatted to fit on a printed page. Michelle is constructing those lessons by copying each section into a Word document and adjusting the format. This is a long job, but they are almost done with the evangelistic phase and will continue with the rest once they are back in Australia. They have been communicating and file copying back and forth with their language helpers via the internet even though they are all in an office together, so that they are now very accustomed to the process.
Ron and Michelle will be home in Australia for at least four months, but they may stay longer.
