Faith comes by hearing

In the New Testament book of Romans, the apostle Paul poses the questions, “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?” (Romans 10:14a)
The answer is found later in that passage, verse 17, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” Having the Bible, God’s Word, in one’s heart language is key to understand who God is, who we are and the incredible salvation that He has provided for us through Jesus Christ.
David, Christine, Abby and Sarah Baxter ask that you join them in praising the Lord for the work that is being done in Mexico to get God’s Word into the languages and hands of some of the many indigenous people groups in this vast country.
Last month translation checks were carried out in three of the language groups, Guarijio, Nahuatl and Northern Tepehuan.
They are especially excited about what is going on there because the main translator, Rachel, is an MK (missionaries’ kid) from Panama. Both David and Christine had input in her life growing up; David as a soccer coach and Christine as a teacher. They enjoy seeing God use her in this way. When Christine asked about the progress this is what she wrote:
‘We have finished the portions of Genesis needed for the Chronological teaching. Right now, we are working on portions from Exodus. We are over halfway through those! After that there are just a few portions here and there in the Old Testament (for the teaching), then we´ll plunge into the Gospels! Please keep praying for us – for availability of helpers, for good helpers, for wisdom in translation decisions, for good words and phrases to match Biblical terms, for health and energy, and for God’s Word to be accepted, loved, read and used by the people. Thanks so much!’
Please keep the two comprehension checkers in your prayers.
Progress in the translation of the New Testament in the Northern Tepehuan is very exciting! Currently is 91.35% finished! The end is in sight and the next check is scheduled for December. Praise the Lord for all He is doing!
On the home front, Abby is feeling much better, Praise the Lord, and has agreed to design and paint the sets for the high school drama that will take place this May. Sarah will be participating in the actual drama. They would all appreciate your prayers as there is still a lot to do.
Also, this month, Abby celebrated her 18th birthday.
Pray for David, Christine, Abby and Sarah as they finish up the school year, plan their summer travels, and see how the Lord provides a summer job for Sarah (Abby already has one).
