Eventful

Another eventful month has passed for Adrian and Evelyn Jotter who are serving among the Umayam people in the Philippines. As a team they enjoyed a wonderful Easter celebration in the village.

They were able to complete the first phase of language learning (which compared to other phases requires the most preparation) on April 8th after about nine weeks, for which they are very grateful. It may only be a small part of the overall learning process, but it feels amazing for them to have taken the first step into the world of the Umayam people. They don’t take it for granted that the people are eager to teach them their language and culture.

After finishing a few projects around the house and spending almost two weeks in Malaybalay for the field conference etc., they are continuing with Phase 2. This phase is expected to take about three months, depending on what other things come up. There are a few sounds in their language that they are not used to hearing in German or English, so they have trouble distinguishing them and therefore do not pronounce them. Please pray for patience during this phase!

Their co-worker has now returned to the Philippines, and the team can start preparing for her house construction. Prayers for wisdom and energy for that would be appreciated.

Praise for:

A blessed conference in Malaybalay with good input and conversations with experienced missionaries. The kids enjoyed the kids programme and playing with the other missionary kids around the guesthouse. They were also able to run some errands, see doctors, and spend time with friends and the new missionaries that arrived recently.

Protection when there was a fire behind their house a day before they returned to the village (people here are burning their fields, and it probably got out of control).

Government help to set up health insurance for the people in the village.

Fairly good health and energy right now.

Pray for:

Wisdom and unity for them as a team.

Good health and energy to continue learning the language and culture.
