Developments

Paul and Marina Briggs are encouraged by several developments have occurred over the past couple of months in the work among the Loron people in West Africa.

The first was news that numerous older Loron people in a village where they have laboured in the Gospel for decades, have put their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. This was a thrill to their hearts, as well as to the Loron Bible teachers who have worked so hard among these dear folks for so long.

Another encouragement was receiving word that another village which had previously resisted the Gospel, requested literacy teachers to come to their village so that they could learn how to read in their language. They also expressed a desire to hear teaching from God’s Word. Pray for the literacy teachers and Bible teachers as they begin work in this village.

Finally, Pastor Donald has begun work on translating books of the Old Testament into the Loron language. Now that the New Testament is complete, attention can be moved to the Old Testament. Several books and portions from the Old Testament are already translated, and they have decided to continue with 1 & 2 Samuel, and when those books have been completed, to work on Psalms and Proverbs.

Paul went through surgery in late June. After some initial complications, he is now well on the way to recovery. Also at the end of June, Doug, who has been working on typesetting the Loron New Testament in the USA, fell while walking and was seriously injured. He, too, has recovered well. Pray for Paul and Doug as they prepare to send the final draft of the New Testament to the printers next month.

Praise the Lord with Paul and Marina that the work continues to move forward in translation, and that more Loron people are hearing of the grace of God and responding to it.
