Andrew and Cathy Goud serve among the Wusuraambya people of Papua New Guinea. Their son Dan with his wife Jen and their three children have been in Ontario for the last few weeks visiting churches and individuals. They are trusting God to raise a support team who will stand behind them in prayer and finances. MAF (Mission Aviation Fellowship) would like them to be on their way to Papua New Guinea already in August because of the urgent need for pilots there. Pray for God’s provision and timing.
Wusuraambya Bible teachers continue to teach chronologically through the Bible in two villages. Recently the teaching was on the crucifixion. A Sunday school class was also in attendance, and the children were deeply touched by it as were many adults.
Just beyond the borders of the Wusuraambya language group is the Umba district where the Avaayaka language is spoken. One fellow who has an Umba father and a Wusuraambya mother can speak both languages. After hearing the chronological Bible lessons in Wusuraambya, he now wants this Good News to go to his father’s people too. Should the missionaries go to this language group or should the Wusuraambya church be the ones to reach them? Pray for wisdom. There are so many villages still waiting to hear God’s Word in Wusuraambya too.
Two PNG families from the neighbouring Aziana people group have gone to Menya to teach the believers there. Aziana, Menya and Wusuraambya all attend an annual district church conference. During the 2025 autumn conference Wusuraambya believers heard that these two missionaries were finding it very challenging. The soil is poor there so they must buy all their food. The Wusuraambyans sent two large bags of sweet potatoes to help them. Andrew and Cathy were delighted to see them support their own missionaries.
A man who has been in training as a Bible teacher in the outreach church, can now teach full lessons. This is a tremendous blessing to the other Bible teachers. Pray for him as he continues to grow in this role. Preparations are well underway for a new church building in the outreach village. Many trees have been cut down in the big bush and hauled down the mountain to the building site. Owners of a portable sawmill are donating the use of the mill as their tithe for God’s work. The village believers have collected money for fuel for the sawmill, and the lumber is now being milled.
Both mother church and the outreach church had a three-day Easter conference. The mother church held the conference in an open area, teaching under a big tarp as an outreach to the community. People who do not dare to go into a church building are often willing to attend an outside meeting. Pray for God to work in hearts.
The Wusuraambya literacy schools began the new year in early February. Praise God for many new students and teacher trainees. Both schools are buzzing with activity. Pray that many children would come to know Jesus as their Saviour as they learn to read and write their language this year.
Thank you for so faithfully standing with Andrew and Cathy as you pray.
