They visit the school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and Steve and Philip both teach the lessons simultaneously so that each student gets three lessons a week. At this rate they will be done by September.
The owner of the school is a Christian and is delighted to have them help in this area that she considers to be as important as the students getting good grades.
Some of the lessons can be challenging. Teaching that God created man in his own image is not easy to teach to young children in English let alone another language. Thankfully the great thing about chronological teaching is that it constantly reviews and reinforces the story.
Philip and Natalie will soon be leaving for Germany to have their baby. Steve and Gerdine are not expecting them back until November. That means work on getting into a tribe will need to wait until then.
With Philip away, Steve’s teaching schedule will be doubled to teaching thirteen – half hour lessons a week. That’s a lot of practice, and he is looking forward to it.
Gerdine loves working with the PNG ladies in the administration office. Pray for wisdom in communication as she is from such a different culture.
