Busy seasons

Becky Noble begins an even busier season at the mission base in Lapilo, Papua New Guinea. She would appreciate prayer, especially as she has not been well recently.

Lord-willing, the next orientation group will start next week, along with the new school year. This is potentially her last extended period in Lapilo for quite some time.

Pray for her as she seeks to help the current fourteen support missionaries at very different stages and for four others hoping to arrive very soon. Pray that they would be equipped well for ministry.

Becky is continuing to train the two main citizen teachers of the new missionaries to use a laptop, update the curriculum, create their own lesson resources etc. She is also seeking to help two new local ladies become more formally involved. Pray for good interactions with these citizens and the many other locals in the wider community, who help new missionaries. Some are believers but many are not.

The new school year will also start next week. She will teach Elementary Music again for two afternoons each week. There will not be a school Tok Pisin class this term. While that is disappointing, she will enjoy teaching music again and there is only so much she can fit into a week. Pray that the students will enjoy their classes but also for the opportunity to impact these young lives spiritually as they memorise Bible verses through song.

Sadly, rats have destroyed some of the drums. Becky particularly hopes they do not make an appearance in classes. It has happened before and she is not a fan of them (an understatement!)

Back in May, she became a member of the Lapilo Centre Management Team. There are other new members joining soon. They have not all met together yet. Pray for wisdom for the team and that they would serve the community well. They really need the Lord’s help to fulfil their responsibilities.

Becky continues to have spiritual opportunities most weeks with various citizen friends. She is reading Colossians with one friend and doing some studies in Acts with another. There have been some encouraging times with the group of ladies with whom she has been going through the Creation to Christ (Firm Foundations) teaching. They have reached the New Testament now but some of the ladies only attend sporadically. Continue to pray the Lord would work in these ladies’ hearts through His powerful Word, that they would be committed to attending and that Becky can prepare well and continue these studies alongside other responsibilities.

As they enter a new season in Lapilo, please also pray for decisions to be made about how they can help the wider local community spiritually, so that progress can be made towards seeing thriving, faithful churches in the immediate Lapilo area.
