Andy and Chrissy Shaub serve among the Awa people of Ecuador. Over the last couple of weeks, they have had many whistle door calls (that’s the Awa people’s equivalent to ‘knocking on the door’), with one or more children wanting to do make-up Bible lessons! You could call them interruptions, but what an opportunity to be able to sit down with these children individually and go over spiritual truth with them.
The team is finishing teaching four different groups of children through the first half of a Bible course, a set of 36 lessons, covering from Genesis through the Prophets. It’s a joy for Andy and Chrissy to see them answering questions, showing understanding of how God was working through the Old Testament to bring sinful people to Himself.
Another bonus is that as the children studied it sparked the interest of one of the adults, so they are now doing an adult study with him.
Praise and Prayer Requests:
Pray for their Awa believer friend and his family, he lost his little sister to a freak accident this past month. Pray that he would be finding God’s help and shine as a light among his unbelieving family members.
Holiday Bible club is planned for July 17-19, in two locations every day. Pray for strength and that it would be of use in God’s kingdom work in each child’s heart. They usually have a total attendance of 120-200 children every day.
This last month Andy’s overall health has been moderately good, although he did have one week with extreme fatigue. He is still learning my limits but they are thankful to have found a good physical therapist.
They are still chipping away at translation and are currently working on Joshua 13. They are very thankful for their two main helpers.
Continue to pray for men to serve by leading in the church.
