At the end of February, Aaron and Amy Speitelsbach who serve among the Glarro people in Liberia, West Africa, were able to spend time with their co-workers, the Burkheads, who visited them in the village. It was nice to have them back for a short time, although they were quite busy that week and did not have as much time to fellowship as they would have liked. They taught one lesson under the tree that weekend and the following Monday they accompanied the Burkheads back out to the main road.
A couple of days later they crossed over into Ivory Coast along with Guy Burkhead, to visit their other coworker, Lesley, who has been working in a village across the border. They were able to spend a few days with her before she left the village to retire in the USA. She had been there for approximately 32 years and made big strides in getting the New Testament translated into Glarro, something that they hope to finish and get printed sooner rather than later. However, with less personnel on the ground now, they are not sure when that will happen. Nevertheless, the Gospel of Mark is finished, and they were able to hand out some printed copies as well as some audio recordings of Mark in Glarro while they were in that village.
This week they are hoping to get back into their working routine. So far, this has been unexpectedly more difficult than other times. Amy is struggling with a cold, and Aaron with discouragement. Nevertheless, they hope to teach a lesson on the next two weekends. Then, sometime around Easter they plan to take Amy’s graduated literacy students for a couple of days to the ocean. Because the road has been a bit more passable this dry season, they have planned for more travelling right now, before the road conditions will get worse again.
Thank God:
- That their car is holding up well, and that He kept them safe
- For the time they had with their co-workers
- For Lesley’s work on the Bible translation, and for the time she served in Ivory Coast.
Pray:
- For strength and encouragement to make progress in the work.
- That God will work in the hearts of the Glarro and draw them to himself.
- That the audio recordings of Mark which they handed out, will be listened to and make a difference in people’s lives.
Thank you for your prayers for the Glarro people and missionary team.
