Answers to prayer

Summer has not only arrived, but it is hot and dry where Lance and Laura Ostman live and serve among the Higaunon people of the Philippines. They are grateful for electric fans, as they don’t have the luxury of air-conditioning.

They recently attended the regional conference. The day it commenced was also their 50th wedding anniversary and they had a wonderful time together with colleagues and fellowshipping around the Word of God.

Over the past month, some things have come to their attention for prayer. The wife of one of their translation assistants has been unwell. Thanks to a friend of Lance and Laura’s she has the medication the doctor prescribed. Now they wait to see if it helps. If not, the doctor may do a colonoscopy.

Their main translation checker became quite sick and was taken to town to see the doctor. If he had waited much longer for medical attention, he might not have made it. He was treated for pneumonia and, praise the Lord, is doing much better.

Praying for more people to hear the Gospel is always on their list. One of the church leaders shared that he came from a village where people are finally able to hear the Gospel. Up until recently, a shaman had prevented Bible teachers from entering his village. When the shaman passed away, the people were glad to have someone teach them. Praise the Lord for yet another village where a church is being planted.

Lance and Laura praise the Lord for each of you who prays for them and the ministry. Fifty years ago, they never would have dreamed of doing and seeing all that God has allowed them to see and do.
