Airstrip reopened

It’s taken a couple of weeks for Chris and Ingrid Hughes and their family to get settled after returning to Papua New Guinea. Thank you for praying for them as they travelled. The journey was long and hard, but after four days, they were very grateful to have made it with all their baggage.

In Hoskins, they were picked up by their co-workers the Pavs and greeted by other good friends once they arrived on centre. Their kids were soon playing with old friends and enjoying the warm outdoors. The Hoskins team know how to welcome people – providing meals for the first few days, and all the kids on centre had put welcome signs on their house door.

Last week NTMA did a test landing on the Mamusi airstrip, and it went well! This means the airstrip is reopened for their coworkers the Pavs’ house building on the condition that the team complete the work on it once they are moved in. The community has been promised a new lawn mower which will make maintaining the airstrip much easier.

Now that the airstrip can be used, the team will be jumping straight into house building in January and be in and out of the village for a couple months. Ingrid and the kids will stay in Hoskins whilst the construction teams base out of their house in the village. Every couple of weeks, build teams will switch.

In early March, school testing is planned and then the conference for missionaries in their region. They then hope to move in as a family shortly afterwards. Pray that all the logistics come together so that them can get both houses finished and the whole team moved in by the end of April.

Praise God for:

• Getting them safely back, with all their baggage.

• Helping them through the tough season of goodbyes.

• The wonderful team in Hoskins who have been such a blessing as they welcomed them back.

• How the kids have adapted to PNG life, for the beautiful nature, and all the friends they can play with.

• That the airstrip has been reopened

Pray:

• That all the logistics come together for the build season in the New Year, and especially for enough skilled people to help.

• For Brody as he takes the lead in building his own house.

• For the team as they plan and prepare, for unity and help to love each other well during the upcoming build season.

• For everyone to recover from various illnesses that have been going around, and then to stay healthy
