“At present, the translation projects in South Asia are mainly focused on translating the online training programme. Since this is a two-year course – with a few breaks in between – it’s a long process to work through each video and its transcript, translate, revise, proofread, and finally process everything through video editing.
Thankfully, a few highly motivated and skilled individuals have stepped up to handle the technical side. This likely means that the final product will not only include subtitles but also dubbing, which is wonderful! Please pray for the right person to join as reviewer and proofreader.
Over the past two and a half months, the team has completed drafts of the first 113 pages – covering half of the first module, which is taught over seven weeks in 45 videos. A great beginning!
Meanwhile, the new students in the online training programme have now finished their first three months. As happens every year, some realised after the first few weeks that the course requires more time and effort than expected, or that studying in English is too challenging. As a result, a few small groups have become smaller. Please also pray for one team member who is still recovering from an accident two months ago, leaving another colleague to take on additional responsibilities. Each week, students submit assignments and essays that tutors review and annotate with feedback and suggestions. This month, they also have a “teaching assignment” to present to a tutor for evaluation.
Most students remain highly motivated. Many serve full-time – some in remote areas, others with children or involved in new church planting projects.
One team member continues training to become a consultant for CLA (Culture and Language Acquisition). They are currently working through the second book in the series and will have the opportunity to attend a week of in-person training later this month.
This week marks some of the largest annual festivals of the majority religion. Please pray especially for those who are still living in darkness during this time.
