Looking back on the past six months back in Papua New Guinea, Christopher and Lilli with Linda, Silas, Viola, and Melissa are just so grateful. They were able to wrap things up well in Germany and had a good trip back to PNG. Their homeschool helper, Hanna, joined them two weeks later. Four men from their home church in Germany also visited and spent two weeks working alongside Christopher renovating their house in Kaze before they moved in as a family. They really enjoyed working together and had so much fun!
Now they have been in Kaze since the beginning of September. And every day they are incredibly thankful that they have the privilege to live and work among the Kaze people.
It took time to settle back in as they hadn’t lived in their house in the village for twenty-two months. Now a family of six, two of their children had no experience of this place they call home. But they have received a lot of support. Hanna has completely taken over homeschooling Linda and Silas. In November, they had a visitor from Germany. Ruth stayed for three weeks to help wherever needed. She cooked, baked, played with the little ones and did a lot of dishes.
Christopher spent some weeks focusing on brushing up his Kaze and then worked on the literacy programme. At the beginning of December, they all flew to Madang, a town on the coast. They took part in a translation workshop. Now Christopher is working on translating the book of Acts. He really enjoys it! It’s very challenging and often pushes him to his limits, but it’s good.
In the Kaze church there are people who continue to learn what it means to follow Jesus and are growing. Men and women who take on responsibilities and carry them out faithfully. The Kaze believers are becoming involved in many different tasks, and some responsibilities have been completely handed over to them. But some people who professed faith in Jesus, and were baptised, live in a way that does not really reflect their decision. Pray for wisdom in this regard. It is hard for them to know how they can best help.
They are thankful:
- For a great start back in PNG
- For the many faithful Kaze believers
- That all their kids really love being in Kaze
Pray with them for:
- Good progress and endurance in the translation work
- Wisdom for leading the church
Thank you all so much for continuing to pray for Christopher, Lilli and family and for the Kaze people.
